Kosovo will host the 6th edition of the Prishtina International Theater Festival from 10th to 16th May.
During the festival, six performances will be given, one on each day until the awards ceremony on the last day.
Theater performances from Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, Spain, Italy, and Montenegro will feature as part of the festival.
The Institut del Teatre de Barcelona from Spain will perform the drama I Departed on the first day of the festival. The second day will feature The M Word by Self-Made and Urban Theater from Northern Macedonia. The City Theater “Bekim Fehmiu” from Prizren will present Andorra on the third day, and on the 13th May, Independent theater companies from Italy will present I Don’t Wanna Forget. The Montenegrin company Korifej Theater, Culture Center Kolain, Culture Center Bijelo Polje will perform Iphigenia on the fifth day of the festival. On the final day of this year’s programme, the National Theater of Kosovo will present the play Muslimani.
With a professional jury and two independent student and media juries, the festival has a competitive atmosphere to it. The festival awards will honour the best actor/actress as well as the best performance.
The Prishtina International Theater Festival was founded in June 2017, on the premises of AAB Theater “Faruk Begolli”, which operates within the AAB College in Pristina.
This year’s festival pays tribute to Kosovar director Burbuqe Berisha, who served as the festival’s artistic director in previous years and died a year ago.
The festival’s goal is to showcase high-quality theatrical productions from around the world while also encouraging participants to share their opinions, ideas, projects, experiences, and future collaborations.
