The festival of Albanian drama “Talia e Flakës” will take place in the Theater of Gjilan from 23rd -28th January.
The “Talia e Flakës” festival is organized every year in January by the Municipality of Gjilan. This year’s participants include the National Theater of Kosovo, the “Bekim Fehmiu” Theater, the Albanian Theater of Skopje, Artpolis, the Multimedia Center, the Oda Theater, the Integra Theater, and the National Experimental Theater of Albania.
“Talia e Flakës” will starts on 23rd January with Faust, a collaboration between the Theater of Gjilan, the National Theater of Kosovo, and the “Bekim Fehmiu” Theater in Prizren.
On the second night of the festival, the play Knots” (Nyjat) from the Albanian Theater of Skopje will be presented.
On 25th January, The land of troubled souls (Toka e shpirtrave të trazuar) will be shown by Artpolis in Pristina.
On 26th January, there will be an opportunity to see The Sworn Virgin” (Burrnesha), a collaboration between Qendra Multimedia Center and the Oda Theater in Prishtina.
On 27th January, Jeton Neziraj’s moving play Father and Father (Babai dhe babai) will be shown by Integra Theater.
On the final night, there will be a performance of Little Pact (Pak Pakt) from Tirana’s Experimental National Theater.
“Talia e Flakës” is part of the cultural festival “Flaka e Janarit,” which was first held on 18th January, 1992, in honour of those who battled for independence. It begins with the symbolic ‘lighting of the flame,’ and includes many cultural events, and attempts to explore the notion of country through culture and art.
